Though food is not one of the official 5 “love languages”, I consider it my love language.
Food is a way that I show my affection. And it spans all 5 love language dimensions! Food elicits words of affirmation (Thank you, this is delicious). Food offers quality time and an activity together. Preparing the food is an act of service. Sharing food is a gift, offering physical nourishment and an opportunity to enliven all the senses.
Often, it’s the craving of a color that drives what I choose to prepare. “Eat the rainbow for good health,” they say. And so, here, I have begun curating my favorite dishes for you, organized by color.
Also, if you are into books, here are a few food-related ones for inspiration:
- Isabelle Allende’s Aphrodite, a Memoir of the Senses
- Samin Nosrat’s Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat (Also see this on Netflix)
- David Scott & Tom Pappas, Three Bowl Cookbook: Secrets of Enlightened Cooking from the Zen Mountain
- Michael Pollan’s Food Rules, An Eater’s Guide
I hope you find something you enjoy.
